At IMSL, our core commitment lies in delivering consistent, high-quality support to our clients, exemplified by the ArcGIS StoryBoard co-authored by IMSL, Harvesting Conflict.

Every action we take is grounded in a recognition of the profound impact that meaningful, compassionate assistance can have on individuals navigating difficult circumstances. When working with victims of crime, we understand that real change often begins with the smallest acts of care and attention… providing support in times of crisis, ensuring that voices are heard, and guiding individuals through often complex and intimidating systems. These interventions are the foundation of our work and represent the values upon which IMSL was built.

IMSL’s expertise extends far beyond frontline support

IMSL also plays an active and strategic leadership role in addressing the broader, systemic issues that shape the environment in which victims live and seek justice. We are committed not only to responding to immediate needs but also to driving long-term structural change. Our work encompasses research, policy advocacy, and strategic project delivery, all aimed at creating safer, fairer systems that prioritise the rights and dignity of individuals.

We are particularly proud to have contributed to initiatives that inform public discourse, influence national and international policy, and highlight critical areas of concern within the human rights and security sectors.

How IMSL explores critical areas of concern within the human rights and security sectors

One such project is Harvesting Conflict, an ArcGIS StoryMap co-authored by IMSL for Global Rights Compliance. This interactive digital narrative explores the devastating use of starvation and the weaponisation of Objects Indispensable to Survival (OIS) by Russian forces against Ukrainian civilians, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Through a powerful integration of geospatial data, mapping, and first-hand testimony, Harvesting Conflict exposes the deliberate targeting of civilian food systems and critical infrastructure. The project sheds light on the structural inequalities and vulnerabilities that are intensified by conflict, particularly within communities already facing significant risk. By combining empirical data with the lived experiences of affected individuals, the StoryMap offers both a rigorous analytical framework and an emotionally resonant account of the realities on the ground.

Our use of data to drive meaningful advocacy

IMSL’s involvement in this project demonstrates our dual capacity: to deliver empathetic, individual support on the frontline and to lead complex, high-impact projects on the global stage. It reflects our belief that data should not only inform but also drive meaningful advocacy; that insight must be translated into action if we are to see real, systemic change.

We are honoured to have contributed to this important body of work and reaffirm our ongoing commitment to supporting victims, shaping policy, and promoting justice through innovative, evidence-based approaches.
